Meet the Instructors


Dane Gregory

Dane Gregory has a vast and expansive industry background. Currently, he chairs the Hard Surface Division with the IICRC. He is the past president of the IICRC. He owned a successful carpet cleaning and insurance restoration business in Stevens Point, WI for many years, which he sold a couple of years back to focus full time on consulting. He has served as a teacher and consultant to insurance companies, carpet mills, cleaning and restoration equipment and chemical manufacturers, and many others.

Dane also has served as a manufacturer's representative for a major supplier of specialty stone care products. He recently opened a stone service business called Prestige Stone Solutions, which focuses on stone countertop protection. Prestige Stone Solutions also offers courses and symposiums in the care and maintenance of stone and tile surfaces. The company also offers a complete business opportunity package with equipment, training and marketing expertise for people who wish to open their own stone, tile and grout service business.

Dane is an approved instructor for IICRC Classes in the areas of Carpet Cleaning, Upholstery Cleaning, Commercial Carpet Cleaning, and Hard Surface Floor Cleaning (FCT). He will also be teaching Fast Track Technical and Business Growth Classes. Dane has developed the Bridgepoint School for the new IICRC approved category of Stone, Masonry, and Tile Cleaning Technician (SMT). He was the first approved instructor for SMT and continues to be the most sought after tile and grout care instructor in the industry.


Joe Dobbins

Joe teaches with a background of over 26 years in the cleaning and restoration industry. His experience included daily experiences in direct operations of construction, professional cleaning, restoration, inspection and consultation allowing him both practical as well as education help to individual cleaners and business owners. He also had experience as a consultant to insurance companies and employed as a property claims adjuster with a major insurance carrier. Joe is a Master Textile Cleaner, Master Smoke Restorer, Master Water Restorer and Senior Carpet Inspector. Being one of the industry’s foremost authorities on restoration topics, he is a licensed general contractor and his firm processed hundreds of fire, water and mold losses annually. The combination of working as a contractor and later as a claims adjuster allow bring a perspective to the classroom that enables insight into both areas of restoration work.

Previous designations with the IICRC include member of development task force for Applied Structural Drying and Applied Microbial Remediation Technician, Certification Division Chair over Restoration Division and Maintenance Cleaning Division Technical Advisory Committee Chair for ASD, FSRT and WRT, and Chair of the Certification Council/ Executive Officer for six years overseeing the technical development for all five divisions – cleaning, inspection, restoration, hard surface/maintenance cleaning and apprentice/basic skills. These divisions consisted of 26 different Technical Advisory Committees for all the different certification courses. Today, Joe holds the position as Chair of the Technical Advisory Committees for Water Damage Restoration (WRT) and Wood Floor Maintenance Technician (WFMT) and is also certified in all divisions of the IICRC.

Joe teaches many training classes as an IICRC-approved instructor with Disaster Academy. The Disaster Academy facility is a fully furnished 1250 sq. ft. house built as an advanced training site. He is also approved in approximately 20 states to teach continuing education to the insurance industry in water, mold, fire and odor classes. He has a teaching style of down-to-earth yet with a dynamic personality. As an IICRC-approved instructor since 1993, he currently teaches classes in Water Damage Restoration, Fire/Smoke Restoration, Odor Control, Carpet Cleaning, Color Repair and Applied Structural Drying. Until 2007, he oversaw 4 divisions of a previously-owned company including construction, cleaning, fire/water/mold remediation, distribution, and personally taught and administered the training facility.


Doug Heiferman

As owner of DH Seminars, Doug Heiferman has trained and motivated thousands of individuals in the field of textile cleaning and restoration services throughout the United States for the past 14 years. He is an IICRC Approved Instructor and Certified Master Textile Cleaner and additionally holds certification in upholstery cleaning, odor control, water damage, repair and reinstallation, health and safety, and color repair. As an IICRC Approved Instructor he teaches a wide array of classes including IICRC certified carpet, upholstery and odor control technician. He also offers specialized training classes in leather, oriental rugs, tile and grout, wood as well as marketing and management seminars.

In addition to his passion for teaching, Doug provides consulting, business development and technical support services through his company DH Seminars. Tony Macaluso

Tony Macaluso is a veteran of thirty-three years in the cleaning and restoration industry. As an owner of Sunshine Fabric Cleaning & Restoration Company in Austin, Texas, his company has provided services in cleaning and restoration since 1973. As administrator of TM Cleaning & Restoration Schools, Tony has taught numerous classes throughout the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Norway, and Australia. He also provides consulting and teaching services for several organizations, i.e. Paul Davis Restoration, Fibreclean of Canada, National Flood School (England), Polygon (Norway), and the Australian Carpet Cleaning Institute.

Tony is currently serving as Chairman of the Odor Control Committee on the Technical Advisory Board of IICRC, as well as a member of the Standards Committee on "Water Damage Restoration." He was also a Founding Father and past President of the Southwest Carpet Cleaners Association, which is now the Professional Cleaning & Restoration Alliance (PCRA).

Tony is a graduate of University of Puget Sound. He is certified as a Master Cleaner, Master Restoration Technician and Senior Carpet Inspector #0797 with IICRC, Master Deflooding and Restoration specialist with C.D.R.N., Certified Mold Remediation Specialist with the AmIAQ, and Certified Restorer #70 with A.S.C.R.

Tony is still very active in day-to-day restoration work. His approach to hands-on training is related directly to the real world of restorative cleaning. Tony is known not only to be factual, but also for his honesty and bluntness.


Steve Poulos

Steve G. Poulos lives, breathes and sleeps for a chance to talk dirt! He has been in the cleaning and restoration business for over 20 years and has trained several thousand cleaners in the technical as well as the business aspects of the industry. He brings with him not only a vast knowledge of the industry but a true love for the trade. Because of the many hats Steve wears and pioneering approach to new ideas and products, opportunities have allowed for him to teach in all parts of the U.S. as well as England and Australia.

Steve's expertise comes from years of experiences with his own cleaning and restoration firms. He has also worked along side with interior designers, carpet manufactures, adjusters, departments of health and the University of North Carolina. Steve's background in finance along with strong customer service ethics puts him as a true leader in the industry as well as a requested source for knowledge, education and training.

Steve is an IICRC Master Textile Cleaner and Restorer and a Leather Cleaning Technician (LCT). He also has authored the 'Leather Cleaning & Identification' manual used in the LCT course he instructs. He held a position for 6 years on the Board of Directors with the Mid South Professional Cleaners Association and served as the Executive Director during their reorganization. Steve has served as the Regional Editor of Cleanfax for 5 years and has also served on the CUCI council of ASCR.


Tom Slattery

Tom Slattery has been involved with all aspects of the cleaning and restoration industry since 1987. He is now focused on teaching while still operating a cleaning and consulting firm. As a consultant he has mentored many companies to expand and increase their revenue by as much as 500% in 2 years. He can help you reach your potential as well.

Tom's credentials include IICRC Senior Carpet Inspector, Master Textile Cleaner, Master Water Restorer, Master Fire & Smoke Restorer. He also holds certification in Oriental Rug Cleaning, Leather Cleaning, Dale Carnegie Public Speaking as well as Sales Awards and Service Technician courses.

His extensive knowledge, teaching style and sense of humor give students an excellent learning experience.


Dennis Klager

In 1973, Dennis graduated from Northeastern University, in Boston, with a BA in Business Administration & Marketing. He has lived in Boston, Long Island and Houston.

While in Long Island, Dennis managed several businesses and then built his own vending machine company. In 1982 he sold his business and moved, with his wife and children, to Houston Texas.

He's been involved in the cleaning and restoration industry, since 1984. In the 1980's he went from single truck operator to 2 trucks and became a senior carpet inspector. Dennis eventually specialized in flood restoration doing hundreds of projects, of every size.

In 1997 Dennis became a partner with Howard Partridge at Clean As A Whistle, becoming Vice President of Operations. He trained 35 employees and oversaw the plant and equipment. He has authored an "Operations Manual for Carpet Cleaners."

Dennis is a master cleaner and master flood restorer and is a Board member of the Society of Cleaning and Restoration Technicians (SCRT).

As an IICRC approved instructor he teaches classes in Water Damage Restoration, Carpet Cleaning, Commercial Carpet Cleaning, Upholstery Cleaning, and Odor Control.

Dennis' students love his sense of humor and how he makes everything easy to understand. He will keep your interest through the entire class while you learn about professionalism and making money.


Steve Andrews

Steve is a long-term veteran of the cleaning industry, with over 31 years experience. He knows what it means to do all types of cleaning related duties from scrubbing toilets to cleaning custom hand-tufted gold inlaid carpets; from answering maintenance questions for a commercial building to giving testimony as an expert witness in a full-jury trial, including arbitrations.

Steve has owned and operated a multi-truck cleaning business, a Full-Service Distribution Center for the Cleaning and Restorations Industry, trained housekeeping departments in the care and maintenance of everything from concrete steps, carpet, and upholstery to mattresses and ovens.

Steve is a practicing senior inspector and works with fiber producers, chemical manufacturers, and carpet mills; as well as providing consulting and training for resort properties, large theme parks and individuals. Steve is also a Master Cleaner with many areas of certifications; Water Damage, Odor Control, Repair & Reinstallation, Color Repair, Certification Number 240. Steve has been actively traveling and teaching IICRC Certification Classes for the last six years and his focus is to assist the new student, as well as the seasoned veteran, to set themselves apart as the premier cleaner in their area.


Craig Jasper

Craig Jasper is the Executive Director of the Cleaning and Restoration Institute and presents his "Double Your Profits" seminar to professional carpet cleaners in 120 cities each year all across the country.

Craig has been in the carpet cleaning industry for over 35 years as a cleaner and as an educator. During that time he has always tried to help any cleaner that has asked. It's probably no exaggeration that he has spoken with and helped thousands of cleaners over the years.


Barry Costa

Barry Costa, combines a genuine "love of teaching" with a vast amount of experience and technical expertise. Barry's installation background started in 1966 and his cleaning and restoration background began in the early 1970's. A graduate of Springfield College and a veteran public school teacher of ten years, Barry brings this experience to his unique hands-on teaching style.

As a technician/owner of his own business, Carpet & Cleaning Craftman, Inc., his daily field experience includes cleaning, installation, restoration, and consultant. This gives Barry the perspective of an instructor/technician who can understand the daily challenges we all encounter.

Barry's industry credentials include: FITC Certified Carpet Installation Instructor, CFI Master Installation Instructor, IICRC Certified Senior Carpet Installer, Master Cleaner, Master Restorer, Contributing author of IICRC's S-500 Water Damage Standard and Reference Guide.


Joey Pickett

Joey Pickett is president of Service Consultants and Joey's Carpet Care of Lexington, KY. He is recognized by the IICRC as a Certified Master Cleaning Technician, Restorer, and Senior Inspector. He serves on several IICRC Standard Committees including as a chapter co-chair of the S-500 Water Damage Restoration Standard, Chairman of the S-300 Upholstery and fine fabric cleaning Standard, Has provided peer review for the S-100, S-300, S-500, and S-520 standards. He is active on several IICRC Technical Advisory Committees (TAC's) and is the current UFT TAC chairman.

He is well known as an IICRC approved instructor, TV and Radio Personality, and offers presentations on a wide variety of technical, management, marketing, and inspirational topics.

He works or has worked as an industry consultant and coach to cleaning and restoration companies, Insurance companies, Carpet and Fiber manufacturers, Consumer reporting agencies, Chemical and Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers, the BBB, LMCCA, AMFA and several others.

George Cazares

George Cazares, President of SEISC Enterprise, LLC and has been involved in the cleaning and restoration industry since 1986. George is an IICRC Master Cleaner and Master Restoration Technician. He has been approved by the IICRC to teach the subjects of Water Damage Restoration Technician, Carpet Repair & Reinstallation, Odor Control, Color Repair Technician, Carpet Cleaning, Commercial Maintenance Technician and Upholstery & Fabric Technician.

George's varied experience gives him extensive knowledge and hands-on techniques that relate to the every day operations of a cleaning and restoration company. George also served as a technical trainer and operations manager for a large multi-truck, multi-state operation for 10 years in the Northwest and Southern California.

His determination and passion for providing quality training with a lot of enthusiasm in either English or Spanish will build a stronger foundation for the next generation of service professionals.
